In my professional world I have the privilege of promoting hundreds of micro 'itinerant' small business owners in good ole U.S.A. As a meeting and event planner, not to mention that I too am an artist/designer, I coordinate environments at cultural and music festivals, local farmers, holiday markets and more!

Marketing a small business to the masses is in and of itself an on-going challenge . . .  I know first hand!  Folks are not aware how much thought, time, planning skills, character, requisite income is needed and involved in producing and setting up exciting shopping venues -- especially at venues where there are no walls. My right and left hand man, Mark and I are honored to support and promote hundreds of talented and renowned artists and designers that create jewelry, accessories, clothing for men and women, home goods (pottery, ceramics, light switch covers), and many who formulate natural hair and skin care products, and more!

Across the country, self producers can be found at a variety of venues  . . . Jazz/music festivals, pop-up shops, taste of city and athletic events, and for several years, many micro business owners have lined the sidewalks in our downtown communities. They are a part of the quilt . . .

Itinerant small
businesses have existed since the creation of commerce.
According to Bible Study Tools, "from the time that men began to live in cities, trade, in some shape, must have been carried on to supply the town-dwellers with necessaries from foreign as well as native sources, for we find that Abraham was rich, not only in cattle, but in silver, gold and gold and silver plate and ornaments. ( Genesis 13:2 ; Genesis 24:22 Genesis 24:53 ) Among trading nations mentioned in Scripture, Egypt holds in very early times a prominent position. The internal trade of the Jews, as well as the external, was much promoted by the festivals, which brought large numbers of persons to Jerusalem. ( 1 Kings 8:63 ) The places of public market were chiefly the open spaces near the gates, to which goods were brought for sale by those who came from the outside. ( Nehemiah 13:15 Nehemiah 13:16 ; Zephaniah 1:10 ) The traders in later times were allowed to intrude into the temple, in the outer courts of which victims were publicly sold for the sacrifice. ( Zechariah 14:21 ; Matthew 21:12 ; John 2:14 )" http://www.biblestudytools.com/dictionary/commerce/
Marketplaces are found in every country around the world; as vending is a way of life for many. Small business proprietors have discovered their niche and passions and have found their way into the mass market. This season, consider supporting micro small business owners by spending your dollars in these businesses; purchase unique one of a kind goods and wares. You will be helping unique business owners grow and sustain in our competitive market.
